No bullets were fired as the racers of the Amgen Tour de California sped through downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, May 22. All shooting by the police on duty was amateur photography and by all accounts, very good amateur photography. The good spirited support of the event set a positive example and encouraged the crowd of thousands of Angelenos to enjoy the picture perfect weather by taking pictures of their own. Amateur photographers were in full force at the event, which offered a rare opportunity for downtown residents to photograph an outdoor sporting event at close range.
